Eric is a proven leader with extensive domestic and international experience in executive decision making, strategic planning, organizational development, M&A, business development, investor relations, SEC compliance, and compensation strategies.
Most recently, Eric was the Chief Financial Officer of The Huffington Post, a leading online media company that combines news, blogs and a highly engaged social community. During his 22 month tenure at The Huffington Post, the company grew from 65 employees to over 250, revenue was on track to increase from less than $12 million to over $60 million, and the company turn profitable and cash flow positive. Eric led the organization through a number of strategic acquisitions and business development relationships that delivered proprietary technology and content that contributed to ongoing traffic growth through content expansion and community engagement. The growth in revenue, the move to profitability and the ongoing expansion of the web site’s audience culminated in the sale of the company to AOL for $315 million in March 2011 through a process that Eric led and completed in less than five weeks.
Prior to joining The Huffington Post in May 2009, Eric served as the Chief Financial Officer of TheStreet.com, Inc, a leading financial media company that is publicly traded on the NASDAQ stock market. During his tenure at TheStreet.com, the company completed four acquisitions and a minority investment in a leading financial community web site, ranging in size from $5 million to $25 million, that contributed to an expansion of the Company’s advertising supported network of web sites to drive audience expansion and advertising revenue growth.
Eric joined TheStreet.com in May 2006 from Text 100 Public Relations, a global technology PR firm with over 25 offices and 500 employees worldwide, where he served the Regional Director of North American operations for Text 100 Public Relations, an international technology public relations agency. He joined Text 100 in 1997 as the North American finance manager and went on to hold positions of increasing responsibility that included Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operating Officer.
During his tenure, Text 100 developed new services and disciplines that drove the growth and diversification of the company’s client base across new industry sectors and agency practice areas.
Prior to his tenure at Text 100 Public Relations, Eric founded an information management consulting venture, and earned his CPA license while working in the areas of tax and audit at both Canby, Maloney & Company and Kenneth Leventhal & Company.
Eric received his BBA in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1993.
